It can be pretty scary out there. I got caught last July and had to sit under the cut bank on the north side. No rain coat and lightning streaking across the sky. Sat it out for 2 hours before running for it before the next cell hit. Left the rods and walking stick until the next day, which was an excuse to fish again.
Grape sized hail that day beat the ever loving crap out of us. We were in a bad spot with only small cedars for cover. We both were wishing we had big cowboy hats or something.
